My name is Alex Verkruijsse and I am the chicken coop builder and owner at Chick Inn Coops

What kind of business is Chick Inn Coops?

Chick Inn Coops is a family owned business, we design and build custom chicken coops of all sizes. Our customers range from farmers on large acreage with a ton of birds to the everyday homesteader in the suburbs. We are located in beautiful and sunny Gilbert, Arizona.

How long have you been building chicken coops?

Since 2020, but technically, we have built our own coops for our own chickens way before that.

Why did you start building chicken coops?

Because I realized that the ones available in stores are expensive and very poorly produced, also they are way too small and very difficult to maintain and clean. Once I built my first coop I realized how much I loved designing and creating the coops. But what I enjoy the most is helping people realize their homesteading dreams.

What is your favorite chicken coop?

All the Chick Inn Coops designs are my favorite! Kidding aside, I love any coop that is easy to clean, provides a safe home for a family's flock and is a beautiful addition to the yard. It so happens that all our coops meet those standards.

What is your favorite chicken breed?

I really like our Rhode Island Reds since they are great layers and have gutsy personalities.

What do you like doing when you are not building chicken coops?

I love our beautiful state of Arizona and every chance I get I enjoy spending time outdoors. Whether it is spending time with the family, going hiking in the nearby mountains or skiing in Flagstaff. Also, I am a passionate homesteader so I try my very best to grow our own food; we have two cows on property, 16 chickens and lots of fruits and veggies – I don’t really have a green thumb so the fruits and veggies are not always a success.
